Vasto: the most beautiful beaches of the Coast

Shall we talk about Vasto? This will be a very popular destination for the 2022 summer holidays, especially because the town will be one of the stops on the Jova Beach Party 2022 (tour dates here), the most eagerly awaited event of the moment.

Let’s discover together the history of the city and above all which are the most beautiful beaches in Vasto.

Discovering the city

Vasto is a municipality in the province of Chieti. We are, therefore, on the Abruzzo coast, which for many is not well known enough and certainly deserves a little more attention.

The town, which has about 40,000 inhabitants, has very ancient origins since its birth dates back to the 12th century BC. The area was settled by the Greeks and later became a Roman municipality due to its strategic location and port. Vasto was destroyed in the Middle Ages by the Lombards and from then on there was a period of decay for the town, which was rebuilt only much later to regain importance during the Aragonese domination.

Over the centuries, Vasto maintained its role and was recognised as a city in 1710 at the behest of Charles III. The late 1700s instead saw the birth of the Vastese Republic. A rich history, therefore, that has left its traces in this splendid town.

The sea of Vasto

Speaking of summer and holidays, the first question that comes to mind is what are the most beautiful beaches in Vasto? We are on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo, known for its heterogeneous beauty.

The Vasto coastline offers beaches of golden sand but also pebbles and small hidden coves that are not always easy to find. A coastline for all tastes and needs.

Of all of them, Punta Aderci beach stands out and is often included in rankings of the best Italian beaches. Here we are in the heart of a nature reserve and in addition to the beauty of the sea, we can enjoy a still unspoilt and protected nature. The peculiarity of this beach is that it is located on a promontory overlooking the sea. To reach it, one has to tackle a series of steps, but we can assure you that the spectacle is guaranteed.

For those looking for an even wilder experience, we recommend the nearby Mottagrossa, which is just a stone’s throw from the Punta Aderci Reserve. Here there is a beach of white pebbles and rocks that makes for a quiet day out. Being located in a fairly inaccessible area, this beach is far from the traditional tourist routes.

Punta Penna beach is perfect for those seeking an expanse of fine, golden sand. Many come here to enjoy a sunset with a sea view because we can assure you that the landscape is one that captures the attention and remains imprinted in the memory.
